Monday, January 25, 2016

Walmart opened three new supercenters in Quebec and Manitoba on January 21 and will soon open another twelve on January 28 in various locations across Canada.

Along with the 29 supercentre projects announced in February 2015, plans for the supercentres began to manifest in May 2015. The projects amount to an investment of more than $100 million and are said to be adding 700 store jobs and 1450 construction and trade jobs.

The sites to be opened next week are located in Ottawa, Ontario, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Maple Ridge and Trail, British Columbia, Brooks, Drayton Valley, Edison and Stettler, Alberta, Candiac, Saint Romuald and Quebec City, Quebec and one in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

“We’re thrilled to open our 400th location in Canada this month, as well as our 300th supercentre,” said Preyash Thakrar, senior vice president, strategy and real estate. “These supercentres will provide even more Canadian communities with affordable access to quality fresh groceries and one-stop shopping, while also saving them money.”
